This is a quick guide for new members on the Chaguo na Sauti forum on how to easily get started and begin contributing your thoughts and ideas. So here are five simple steps to get you started.

1. What exactly is a Forum?

forum is an online discussion board where people can ask questions, share their experiences, and discuss topics of mutual interest.

They are an excellent way to create social connections and a sense of togetherness, and can also help you to cultivate an interest group about a particular subject. By participating in a forum, online or otherwise, you get to exchange ideas, ask questions, and use the expertise of people within your network.

To build a great community within our forums, we require you to be registered to our website. Registration is quick and simple as illustrated below.

2. Registering on our Website

To participate in our forums, you need to create an account so as to be able to log in into the website.

You can register via going to the ME menu and clicking Register.

If you wish to use any of your social media account’s credentials to log in, just tap the social icon you wish to register with. You’ll be redirected to your social media’s website e.g Facebook, where you can log in as usual. After that, you’ll be brought back to our website and automatically logged in. Whenever you wish to log in to the website just tap the social media icon you use and automatically log in.

Heeey, always remember the social media icons and the login form are independent. Don’t enter your social account details in the form whether logging in or registering, simply tap the social media icon.

If you would always prefer to log in via your social media account, go ahead to step 3.

If you do not want to use your social media accounts, or don’t have any, on the registration page is a form just below the social icons. Enter a username-the name people will see on the forum. An email address, used for resetting and recovering of passwords and other such stuff, and lastly, a password which we really don’t have to say should be a strong one.

Once done, hit register and you’re done. Now all you need to do is log in.

3. Pimping up your Profile

So now you’re logged in, you’ll notice you’ve been taken to your profile page which you can edit as you wish, add a profile picture, a back-cover, a description of yourself and other fields. You can fill these fields in any way you like.

On the profile page, you’ll see posts and articles you’ve submitted, as well as your comments and others’ comments on your articles.

You can also access your account which features forms about your full identity, and also a form where you can change your password.

You can choose the people who view your profile via the privacy tab this is a useful feature, especially for those who’d want to remain anonymous.

And lastly, if you ever wish to leave us, on the account page is a tab by which you can delete your account.

It’s good to know we offer two different profile pages; a general one ,or rather, the site profile page which we have just discussed, the other is a dedicated forum profile page that can be quite handy if you’re really active in the forums. The second profile page allows you to track activity on your discussions as well as your subscriptions to other discussions and forums.

Once you’re registered to our site, you get a title. This title automatically changes and you become more senior the more you participate in our forums.

4. And now to the forums

At this point you can start sharing your issues, ideas and starting discussions. Go to the menu, tap on forums and you’ll be taken to the forums page.

So, there are a couple of links in the sub-menu. Most guys using smartphones get confused and think the sub menu is the actual site menu. The site menu is a tiny button on the right-hand corner of your screen, with three lines located above the sub-menu next to the logo. The blue sub-menu is a quick menu for quick links to help navigate within the forums.

In the forum page, you’ll see a list of various forums, each with its own discussions. Select the one you might be interested in, or that best suits the discussion you’d wish to have. Once selected, there is a list of ongoing discussions. You can now choose to have a new discussion or simply participate in any of the ongoing discussions.

Most people get lost here, to start a new discussion, tap the add discussion page. If you’re logged in, you’ll see a form appear where you can enter your discussion title and your thoughts. Hit post and you’ve just started your own discussion. People will see your discussion and may choose to or not to reply, depending on their interest.

Oh and also here, if you wish to participate in a specific discussion or air your thoughts simply tap the reply button and the page will automatically scroll down to a reply box where you can share your thoughts. If you’d wish to quote what someone else said just tap the quote button.

NOTE: If you’re not logged in, you will not see a reply box and whenever you tap reply or quote you’ll see a prompt for you to log in

5. Last, but not Least

On top of every post is a pop up to report somebody’s post. To build a great community, we encourage you to always report content that you may deem to be inappropriate and irrelevant, content that you feel is discriminatory and offensive. Once reported, the administration team will take the necessary steps. Help keep our forums clean of spammers and bad behavior.

Forums are very powerful, but as it is said, with great power comes great responsibility. As I had said earlier you can be totally anonymous in our forums but this does not give you the right to discuss discriminating topics or topics that are detrimental to the wellbeing of the society.

You are responsible for what you write and our team of moderators reserve the right to remove your content if it is found to be inappropriate and offensive in nature. Continued posting of such content will result in deletion of your account.

And there you’re done!!

Now, I believe you’re ready to start on our forums. I hope the article was clear and simple, and if you feel like I kind of lost you somewhere, just comment what you’d need explained further and I’ll be sure to reply.

Have Fun!
